“Kairi, is it you?” Kibum said when the girl who almost made an accident got closer to him.

“Kibum, I thought you are in Korea,” Kairi said, smiling, happy to meet Kibum. Her heart started to beat faster.

“What make you think I’m in Korea while the last we met is in Australia?” Kibum raised his eyebrow, looking at Kairi, waiting for the answer.

“Well, your family is there,” Kairi tried to answer, touching her chin with her pointing finger and laughed politely; a laugh to cover her nervousness.

“Not anymore, my family is all here,” Kibum answered, smiling.

Kairi looked at Kibum in puzzled. What had happened?

“My uncle has passed away too,” Kibum seemed to answer Kairi’s mind.

“I hope there is no crime involve,” Kairi said, more to a warning to Kibum although her hands were cold because of her nervousness.

“No, it just a heart attack when he see I’m back from Australia. He thought I’m dead,” Kibum said in smile.

“So, it’s a happy ending for you,” Kairi said, smiling, happy for Kibum. Would it be a happy ending for her too?

“Let’s have some tea or coffee. It’s my treat. I have a lot to share with you,” Kibum said cheerfully. Kairi was the best listener he ever met. That’s why he was so happy to meet her.

Kairi nodded her head, smiling; a fake smile. She couldn’t reject his offer. This chance rarely came although now she was not in the mood.

“I guess I can’t drive you,” Kibum said, pointing his eyes to Kairi’s Lotus Evora.

Kairi looked at what Kibum pointed and laughed. In her heart, she really wanted to sit beside Kibum in his Gallardo but she couldn’t leave her car in the middle of the road.

“I’ll guide you, there’s a cafe that I love and it opens 24 hours,” Kibum said, playing with the car’s key in his hand. He couldn’t wait to tell her what had happened after he left Australia. Most of it was the happiest moment of his life.

“I guess you live here long enough to have a favourite cafe,” Kairi said, smiling before she turned to her car. She smiled all the way to her Lotus Evora. Meeting Kibum in an almost accident was not an expected event but it was almost the happiest moment for her. Her smile slowly faded when she realized that Kibum thought her as his best friend and not more. He had someone in his heart since a long time. It was impossible for her to fill it. Still, isn’t she lucky to meet him?

She met Kibum in Australia as an illegal foreigner. She was surprised to see a man slept at her cat’s small bed. It was designed specialise for her cat, Riko. It was more surprising to see a man who knew Japanese and Korean language and both as his first language. Then, she knew that Kibum was actually half Japanese and half Korean. His father, Japanese married with his mother based on business made by their parents. It was not a happy marriage. His father left his mother when he was still young and his mother passed away not long after that. His grandmother who was still alive at that time brought him to Korea. However, she passed away not long after that too. He left with his uncle who hates him because he was the legal person who got all the asset of his grandmother. That was why he ran to Australia.

Knock! Knock!

Two knock on her window and Kairi quickly woke up from her thought. She turned to the window and saw Kibum was smiling, looking at her. She replied the smile and opened the door.

“There must be something going on in your head,” Kibum said, concerned when Kairi got out of her car while leaning at his Gallardo which was parked right beside Kairi’s Lotus Evora. People around them thought that they were a rich, sporty couple.

“Yeah but it’s not that serious,” Kairi replied, smiling, again a fake. Kibum never noticed and she was gladded he didn’t although sometime she hoped he would.

They walked in the cafe and all eyes were on them. Both of them had familiar with those situation since they were in Australia. Kibum never care about it and Kairi didn’t want to think much of it.

“I found my father,” Kibum said when they had settled the order.

“Really?” Kairi said in a low voice. It was good news but somehow she couldn’t cope with the situation.

“He is rich and I trick him a bit. Never thought it will work because rumours say he is a very detail and careful person. Now he was in debt more than his asset. I don’t think he could save his company but he is good at sustaining it.” Kibum narrated happily.

Kairi nodded her head, sign of understand. The story reminded her of their father. Will he be able to save the company? It had been a month since she met him. Maybe she should visit him sometimes. The company was important for her father. It was an idea from their mother.

“If he fails, I’ll confess to him that I’m his son.” Kibum told his plan.

“What if he succeeds?” Kairi asked, just to respond.

“I’ll still tell him who I am. Then it’s his decision to decide whether to accept me or not after what I did to him,” Kibum told bluntly as if he didn’t care whether his father wanted him or not.

“I’m sure he will accept you. He is still your father. He will understand why you hate him,” Kairi replied based on her experience with her own father.

“I don’t hate him. I just want to give him a lesson so he won’t repeat what he did with my mother,” Kibum tried to deny and told the truth of his heart.

“I don’t think he will. He is in serious problem with the company. I can imagine that he will reject every pretty girl that come to him now and forcing himself stay up late and work,” Kairi said, looking upward, imagining.

Kibum laughed. That’s what he likes about Kairi. She knew how to add the spices and sweets to the story. Maybe that’s why she became a writer.

Kairi laughed too. At last, she could cope with the condition and treated Kibum nicely. She was worry at first that she won’t react to Kibum. However, she realized now that there was impossible for her to not react to Kibum. She loves him.

“Oh, I met my love tonight,” Kibum said cheerfully.

Kairi could feel a struck at her heart. Kairi reminded herself that she needed to act normal. She took a slurp of the hot chocolate.

“She still remembers you?” Kairi felt really stupid to ask such question. Of course, she would. If she didn’t, Kibum won’t tell her with such happy expression. She took another slurp of the hot chocolate. She couldn’t let herself cry now.

“Yup, and we have a long and sweet chat. She’s so pretty and lovely,” Kibum replied. He enjoyed answering the question.

“Good for you,” Kairi replied, trying to be cheerful. She wished she had more nice and pretty words to say but she couldn’t think of any now. She couldn’t look directly at Kibum now. She could feel the burden at her chest.

“What about you? How’s your life now?” Kibum asked before slurping some coffee.

Kairi quickly remembered what just happened in the mansion that night. However, she couldn’t tell Kibum. She didn’t want to tell him. Just let him happy with his current life. He had found his love and his family. He had the right to be happy. Kairi felt that something stuck in her throat and she just needed to swallow it. Her only wish now was not to cry.

Kairi phone vibrated in sudden. Kairi quickly pick it up without looking at the screen. She was willing to do anything to stop herself from voicing to Kibum because she knew her voice would be trembling.

Kibum just let she pick it up. It must be a call that Kairi waited.

“Kairi, I’m just glad that you answer my call. Did you found Jart?” Hotaru asked worriedly from the opposite line.

Kairi instantly burst into tears. She couldn’t hold it anymore. Every single thing that happened that night made her heart broken. She thought she had lost her tears but now she knew she was too weak to throw all her tears.

“Hotaru, I...” Kairi said in her crying voice, covering her mouth with her other hand. She released the phone and instantly it fell on the floor, broken. She covered her face with her both hands.

Kibum was surprised. He didn’t understand what was just happened. It was the second time a girl crying in front of him tonight. However, he never saw Kairi cried and now it was worse than what he could imagine.
