Summary: A boy knocked her window in a rainy day. It was the start of their closeness. However, they were chasing her to kill her. Could the girl run away? Will they be separated?

It was raining, the day when she arrived here. She was just 4 years old but had gone through something hard for her age. She didn’t go to school because her guardian didn’t allow her. Everyday, she would sit beside the window of her room, staring blankly until that day, a raining day, where she met him.

Knock! Knock!

She awoke from her dream and saw a boy who was standing, smiling joyfully at the other side of the glass.

“Open the window,” He said. His voice was hardly heard because of the rain and the thick glass. He showed the lock of the window.

She was surprised. It was the first time someone came near her beside her guardian. She covered the window with the dark purple curtain and went to her bed. She decided to ignore the boy and closed her eyes.

“Princess,” Her guardian, Kota entered her room, holding a tray and placed it on the study table at the corner of the room.

“Please eat it,” He said kindly and went out of the room.

She opened her eyes and walked to the table. She took the spoon and fed herself, tasting the soup. The wind from the window made a whistling sound. She looked at the window, wondered if the boy had gone. It must be cold outside. She went to the window and slowly, peeping through the curtain, searching for the boy.

He was laughing joyfully under the rain. He played around the rain. He lay on the ground, made his clothes wet and dirty. Then, he closed his eyes. What he was doing?

She stepped backward and started walking to the study table. Why should she care about that boy? She didn’t know him. But, he was laughing happily. She wondered why. She continued eating.

Knock! Knock!

The knocking sound came from the window. She stopped eating. What the boy want from her? They never knew each other. She continued eating, ignoring the knocking sound.

Knock! Knock!

Again, the knocking sound was heard. She ignored it and continued eating.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

The soup had finished also the bread. She had nothing to eat. She walked to her bed, lying under her blanket.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

The sound became louder. She was irritated and decided to ask that boy what he wanted.

She opened the curtain and quickly held the lock of the window. She stopped when she saw the boy was holding himself, quivering because of the cold but still smiling. Her true intention vanished right away. She opened the window.

“Hi, I’m Ji Yong, your neighbour. You are?” The boy asked, still smiling, showing his small rabbit’s teeth.

She quickly closed the window and the curtain, stood there holding herself, turned away from the window. What with that boy, asking who she was. She was annoyed. However, after some times, she turned back to the window. The boy could fall sick in that weather. She sighed and opened the window.

“Hi,” The boy waved to her with a smile. She became more annoyed but this time she took a deep breath and looked back at the boy.

“What do you want?” She asked frankly. He still smiled.

Gradually, she opened her heart to accept him as her friend. Ji Yong was 1 year older than her. Ji Yong came to play with her everyday and Kota never restricted him from coming. Soon, she learned about the village she lived in. There not many kids since most of the youngster moved out of the village so he didn’t have friends of his age. He was happy when he found one.

After 6 years, living in the bored and interior village although it was never bored for her, she became his friend, slowly forgetting about her past.

“Close your eyes,” Ji Yong said, hiding something on his back.

“Why should I?” She asked in monotone. She was used to it. Sometimes, this boy brought cats, rabbit even frogs for her and she hated frogs.

“Don’t worry, this time, it is not an animal,” The boy said, as like he could read her mind.

She turned away but still closed her eyes. Something was placed on her hand. It was light, soft and small. Slowly, she opened her eyes.

“This is a flower called Daisy,” A woman said, placing the flower through her hair.

“She looks cute,” A man came from the woman back, held her and brought her up, towards the sky. She was laughing looking at his face. At that time, that was nothing that she thought except for the happiness.

“Yay! You smile. Now I know what can make you smile,” He said suddenly, laughing happily.

She stopped the thought of her parents and looked at Ji Yong, blurred.

“There always something that makes people happy. For me, it is rain. It never fail make me smile.” He explained, still with the usual smile.

“Do you like rain?” She asked in monotone.

The boy nodded his head confidently.

“Just like you like the flower,” Ji Yong said, sitting beside her.

She looked at the flower and smiled again. She did like the flower. While she was looking at the flower, Ji Yong’s face suddenly appeared before her eyes.

“Your eyes are brown,” He said bluntly. She turned away.

“Yes, why did you suddenly care?” She asked, annoyed although at the same time she was blushing.

“Mine is black, purely black. Isn’t it amazing?” He said happily, pointing at himself. She rolled her eyes still looking away.

Oneday, Kota was rushing home from shopping, throwing the basket away and quickly went to the girl’s room.

“Princess, we have to go. They found us,” He said to the girl who was lying on her bed.

“Ji Yong will come soon,” She said, looking at the window, where Ji Yong would give her a sign when he arrived.

“There no time to wait for him,” Kota said and pulled the little girl’s hand.

Knock! Knock!

“He is here,” The girl said to Kota but Kota didn’t show any sign of letting go. She pulled her hand back from Kota and running towards the window, opened it and jumped out.

“Ji Yong,” She called his name in out of breath.

“What happen?” Ji Yong asked, looked at the girl, worried.

“I need to run... they... found us,” She explained, still hardly breathed.

“Run?” Ji Yong questioned. He didn’t understand.

“I’m actually...”

“Princess,” Kota shouted, protected the both children with his back from the shots.

“Kota,” The girl called his name unintentionally, watching Kota being shots.

“Run!” He said, still protecting the children.

The girl nodded her head and pulled Ji Yong hand inside the house and quickly went out through the back door. She stopped as she sensed something. They were there, hiding.

Bang!

She fell on the ground. She turned to her side and saw Ji Yong was shot right at his waist. Ji Yong pushed her, avoided her from being shot.

“Ji Yong,” She said unconsciously, bit her lower lip and quickly rushed towards Ji Yong. She held his hand and felt something. She instantly looked at it and saw a Daisy hair clip, right in his palm, still in a good condition. He was protecting it even he was shot.

They kept shooting at her after a moment.

“ARGHH!” She shouted along with tears, with Ji Yong still in her hold. Her dark brown and round eyes turned to blue and sharp just like a cat. Blue light surrounded her, protecting her from the shots. The blue light became darker, expanded around the house, killing any human who touched it. In a minute, all those men were dead.

“Princess,” Kota came and hold her, stopping her from using anymore power. The blue light instantly disappeared. She could kill the whole village unconsciously.

She turned to Kota and looked back at Ji Yong who was lying on her arm. Slowly, her eyes turned back to normal.

“Ji Yong,” She called his name softly, hugging him, placing her chin on his shoulder, and crying. He was still warm. She could feel his heartbeat even it was weak. However, she kept holding him, scare of letting him go. She didn’t notice that she was soaked with the rain.

“Rain,” Ji yong spoke softly, in a very soft and low voice. The rain water directed the crimson liquid to the ground, spreading through the grasses.

The girl released Ji Yong from her hold, looked into his smiling eyes. He was still smiling. He was right, the rain never failed in making him smiled. Gradually, he closed his eyes. She had decided. She looked at Kota who was looking at her with a sorrow look and she looked at Ji Yong back with a determine look.

“I’ll be your rain,” She said and bit her fingertip.

“Princess,” Kota was too late in warning her. She had dropped few of her blood into Ji Yong’s mouth.

“I’ll be your rain and protect your smile,” She said again when Ji Yong opened his golden sharp eyes.
