What do you want: Yabu loves Yamada but when BEST question about it, he just state that he love as brother. But then, when Yamada has been confirm having a fatal disease (i think just put leukemia)he start to use all time and tell him he love him...when he start to have the disease, Yabu helps him a lot since he wants to continue his carier till his death.
At the end, he feel regret that he didn't tell him earlier, hold him so much since Yamada do love him back. He know this when he accidentally read Yamada's diary on the day he died.
Yamada's soul (or should i say ghost) come to his dream that night and tell him not to worry about him, to move on and so on.
The ending is...like this...
Yamada will only be seen by Yabu on their b-day where Kami-sama allow him to see Yabu (nonsense, gomen).
